Let us see what the sum of the Gospel is, and how great its certainty.
The Apostle summarizes the sum of the Gospel in 1 Corinthians 15. Furthermore, I declare to you, brothers, the Gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which also, if you retain the speech I preached to you, you are saved, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all, that which I also had received, namely that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and was buried, and was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures, and was seen by Cephas, etc.
Thus, he summarizes the sum in Romans 1 and 4, that the Son of God was promised, born according to the flesh from the seed of David, delivered for our sins, and raised for our justification. He continues this same justice, appearing at the right hand of the Father for us, in Romans 8 and Hebrews 9, and from there he is expected for our salvation, just as the same Apostle briefly summarizes the sum of his Gospel in 1 Thessalonians 1.
