The sum of the Epistle is to teach what that justice is by which we can stand before God, namely, not that of the Law, but of the Gospel.
The greatest question in the whole world is what the true justice is, which liberates from sins. False Apostles gave the occasion for writing: therefore, at the beginning of the Epistle, in the first two chapters, he defends his own calling.
