LXXXV.
The divinity of the Holy Spirit is asserted from the fact that the names and works proper to God are ascribed to Him.
LXXXVI.
In the final words of David, he says that the Holy Spirit spoke through his tongue, and immediately calls the same [Spirit] the God of Israel and the Mighty One of Israel, 2 Sam. 23.
LXXXVII.
Paul in Acts 28, citing the prophecy of Isaiah 6 regarding the blinding of the Jewish people, says: Well did the Holy Spirit speak through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, etc. But it is expressly held there that the Lord of hosts spoke.
LXXXVIII.
The same Paul says in 1 Cor. 6: Do you not know that your bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit? Therefore glorify God in your body.
LXXXIX.
Peter says that Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit, and immediately adds that he lied to God, Acts 5.

And that the Holy Spirit is not merely a gift, an inspiration, and an operation, Paul expressly distinguishes χαρίσματα spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit, and calls Him Lord, 1 Cor. 12.

The Holy Spirit is called eternal, Heb. 9.

He is omnipresent, Ps. 139, Wis. 1.

He is omniscient and of infinite wisdom, Isa. 40.
XCIV.
Works proper to God are attributed to the Holy Spirit, such as creation: Gen. 1, Ps. 33, 104. Job 32 says: The Spirit of the Lord has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life.

Regeneration, John 3. The prediction of future things, which is proper to God alone, so much so that from this He vindicates His divinity against the idols of the nations, Isa. 41.
XCVI.
But the Holy Spirit brought forth the prophecies of the Prophets, as David testifies in 2 Sam. 23, and Peter in Acts 3 and 2 Pet. 1. Therefore the Holy Spirit is true God, ὁμοούσιος consubstantial and ὁμοιώτιμος equal in honor to the Father and the Son.
XCVII.
From these and other [passages], the heresy of the Macedonians and the πνευματομάχων spirit-fighters is solidly refuted.
