who feigned that the Holy Spirit is a creature.

XCVIII.
But the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. For we do not assent to the Greeks, who affirm that He proceeds only from the Father.

XCIX.
For since the Spirit is called the Spirit of the Son just as He is called the Spirit of the Father, Rom. 8 and Gal. 4, it is not to be believed that this happens for any other reason than that He proceeds from the Son just as He does from the Father.

Thus, therefore, the Church worships the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as true God, one in the Trinity, and three in unity. To this only wise and infinite God, from whom, through whom, and in whom are all things, be praise, honor, and glory forever. AMEN.

OF THE ONE AND TRIUNE GOD

Epigram.

As the goodness of the Godhead is unapproachable in its depth,

to grasp it with the mind is impossible, but one must worship it in holiness.

He is the immeasurable God of all, and He Himself is

in all things full, and in the chorus all things exist.

There is one God, truly indivisible and infinite,

who, in three hypostases, is purely worshipped.

The Father is eternal; the Son is the heavenly image of the Father,

and the Spirit at the same time proceeds from both.

Nature is not divided into three, for it is one eternity, as is said,

three consubstantials in one God, together with great honor.

Here the mind must not crave or inquire into the being,

but must have faith in the God-breathed word.

But, Christ, you are the image of the eternal Father,

place the spirit of the truth into our hearts.

So that, being led by the eternal Guide,

we may follow the path of heavenly knowledge and truth.

IN PRAISE OF THE ONE AND TRIUNE GOD

Twelve-line poem.

The immense Majesty of God shines with light,
Which no one can behold without awe.
As one who, receiving the rays of the burning sun in the ether,
Suddenly becomes blind and dull, he stands amazed.
[He is] the divinity of inexhaustible radiance, free from darkness:
Than which nothing is simpler, and nothing freer.
The nature of the great Jehovah transcends all things,
He enters all things, He is present as the nearest to all things.
He is not contained by spaces, He passes through all places, He fills
The infernal with the celestial; God is entirely everywhere.
What He once created from nothing by the power of the Word,
These He rules, and nourishes all things with His own vigor.
Hence the goodness of the Father and His providential care
Shine forth, hence the virtue and the beauty of justice.
Although nothing is simpler than this Divinity, yet
There is a holy Trinity in the highest simplicity.
For God is Triune: the Father, and the Wisdom of the Father,
The Son, and the Third Flame binding the two.
One nature in three, one Vigor in three, and the age [is]
Equal; nothing is later in time and nothing prior.
With covered feet and face hidden by a veil,
The heavenly host sings the thrice-holy Divinity.
With humble countenance and lowered breast, let the crowd
Devoted to Christ sing the thrice-holy [Divinity].
