Ambühl, Rudolf · 1582

Just as famous children are the ornaments of their parents,
So the learned student shall be for his teacher.
Such, Ruinella, you yourself strive to become for your own,
And you will one day bear the worthy rewards of your labors.
Your parents shone before you with great virtue,
And taught you at once the work of pietas duty/reverence/piety.
Therefore, imitate your parents so that you may shine with equal light,
And by your virtue, you too shall be a light to yours.
May God lead you safely through rocks and through fires,
And may He make you a learned man upon your return. Farewell.
