In the same way, since the time you voluntarily came to the court of the Divine Emperor Maximilian, our most venerable Father of happiest memory, to prove your faith and devotion toward His Majesty and your zeal for deserving well of the Christian Republic, you gladly undertook the office of General Prefect of Artillery offered to you in that war which His Majesty waged against the Turk, the perpetual enemy of our Christian name and faith; and you presided over it with such faith, care, and diligence that you abundantly satisfied His Majesty, such that His Majesty judged you worthy to be decorated with the belt and ornaments of the Knightly Order for your demonstrated virtue and bravery, and appointed you Colonel of one regiment of German infantry. This office of Colonel we have deemed not only to be continued but also, on account of your singular industry, experience in matters, and gravity, to be long since accepted into the number of our Councilors. Now, however, believing that a more abundant and benign consideration should be held for such merit of yours, especially since we are entirely persuaded that you will not henceforth omit any occasion to deserve well of us, the Holy Empire, and our Illustrious House of Austria, we have judged it to be in accordance with our Imperial munificence to raise you to a more eminent and worthy grade and state.
