on earth. Isa. 63. 16. [This is also evident] from the fact that the worship of adoration belongs to no creature, and from many other most solid reasons.
X. That the Virgin Mary is not a Mediatrix.
Although the holy Theotokos Mother of God Virgin is blessed among women, she is nevertheless called kecharitomene graciously favored by the Angel, that is, loved freely, Luke 1. 28, and she is a sharer only of human nature: indeed, she was redeemed by the merits and blood of her Son.
XI. Conclusion.
Therefore, with the Apostle Paul, we conclude demonstratively that there is one Mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ, and that prayers are to be conceived in his name alone. 1 Tim. 2. 5; John 16. 23. Nor are saints, whether Angels or men, mediators between God and men, nor is the holy Virgin Mary, the Mother, a mediatrix, as we have demonstrated.
XII. Exhortation.
Therefore, brothers, since we have the freedom to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by that way which he dedicated for us as fresh and living, through the veil, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart and a certain persuasion of faith, with our hearts purified from an evil conscience.
