But as for that pitiable remedy in this disease, namely human blood flowing from the veins of a beheaded man, received in a cup and drunk; and likewise for those diabolical inventions, namely characters, figures, and words—we abhor all of these and attribute no faith to them. For God, in His goodness, has so enriched and endowed us with every kind of remedy that we by no means stand in need of beastly, hellish, or even superstitious medicines devised by magic.
