COMPOSITION OF THE LATTER
Epistle of St. Peter.
ARGUMENT.
A decorative drop cap letter 'A' features floral and foliate scrollwork. The Apostle Peter, in the previous epistle, intended more to render them constant in the Christian profession, lest the pious, through fear of dangers or the burden of persecutions, might fail in the truth. In this latter one, however, he urges this more, that the pious might grow day by day in the virtues of a reborn man, with which the profession itself is to be adorned; meanwhile, he discusses other places as well, such as: about avoiding false teachers, about the consensus of Prophetic and Apostolic doctrine, about the state of the last time, about the excellence of the Pauline doctrine.
