For with a sincere heart and open mouth, we profess what the Apostles handed down by the command of JESUS CHRIST, what the Martyrs strengthened, and what all the faithful preserve to this day.

We believe and confess one, holy, eternal, and almighty God in the undivided and original: "inconfusa" confused Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who well created everything in the nature of things, both visible and invisible, for the glory of His name and the use of man; He preserves what was created and governs it holily and justly.

We believe that God is called Father, not only because He is the Creator of all, but because He has an eternal and only-begotten Son, JESUS CHRIST.

We believe and confess that this Son of God was begotten in an ineffable manner from the substance of the Father, and therefore is coeternal and coessential with the Father; He is of the same—I say—substance, nature, virtue, and power as the Father, the true God above all, in all, and through all. Indeed, we call Him Lord because He redeemed us from the power and tyranny of Satan and made us His own peculiar possession.

We believe that the eternal Son of God was made flesh by the eternal decree of the Father; that is, He assumed a truly human nature from the Virgin Mary, and that He is, in one and the same undivided person, God and Man simultaneously: truly God, begotten from the substance of the Father before the ages, and truly Man, born from the substance of His mother in time: perfect God and perfect man, consisting of a rational soul and human flesh.
