with the utmost zeal, who adulterate, as the
Apostle says, the word of God, and that conversely those are to be followed, who keep the faith handed down by the Apostles uncorrupted; he immediately proposed for himself the question by which, if it could not then be explained, there would be no use for such a salutary precept in the Church. Where, he asks, might someone find such Teachers, the guardians of Apostolic doctrine? And soon he responds to this most salutary question: Paul (he says) teaching says, God has set in the Church first Apostles, secondly Prophets, thirdly Teachers.
