What is an Interjection? An indeclinable part of speech, which, under a rough and unrefined voice, demonstrates an affect of the mind: as pain, fear, indignation, or admiration.
Whence is the interjection called? From interiicior I am thrown between, that is, "I am interposed," because it is thrown between other parts of speech, breaking the series of speech: which is then called an interjection, when it is brought forth with an unrefined voice.

How many things happen to an interjection? One. Which? Signification only.
S I G N I F I C A T I O SIGNIFICATION.
How many significations of interjections are there? Almost innumerable: as of one grieving, fearing, wishing, rejoicing, etc.
Of one rejoicing: as Euax huzzah, vah wow, ô o. Plautus, "Euax, iurgio vxorem tandem abegi" Huzzah, at last I have driven away my wife by quarreling. Terence, "Vah ergo mea Antiphila" Wow, therefore my Antiphila. The same, "O factum bene" O well done.
Give of one grieving: as Heu alas, hoi alas, hei alas, ô o, ah ah. Virgil, "Heu quæ me, inquit, tellus, quæ me æquora possunt accipere?" Alas, he says, what land, what seas can receive me? The same, "Hei mihi qualis erat, quantùm mutatus ab illo Hectore" Woe is me, how he was, how much changed from that Hector. Terence, "I intrò, hoi, hei" Go inside, alas, alas. Virgil, "O dolor atque decus magnum" O pain and great glory. The same, "Ah filice in nuda connixa reliquit" Ah, she left her having brought forth on the bare fern.
Give of one fearing: as Hei alas, atat oh no. Terence, "Hei vereor, ne quid Andria apportet mali" Woe, I fear lest the Andrian woman brings some evil.
Give of one admiring: as Papæ wow. Terence, "Papæ, noua figura oris" Wow, a new shape of face.
Give of one avoiding: as Apage begone, apage sis begone please. Terence, "Apage sis, egon' formidolofus?" Begone please, am I timid?
Give of one praising: as Euge well done. Martial, "Effecte gnauiter citò, nequiter euge beate" Well done, nimbly, quickly, basely, well done, blessed one.
Give of one calling under an unrefined voice: Eho hey, oh oh, io hey. Terence, "Oh, qui vocare?" Oh, who are you called? Ovid, "Ecquis (io) syluæ crudelius, inquit, amauit?" Who, he says, has loved more cruelly in the forest?
Give of one enjoining silence: as Au hush, si shh. Terence, "Au, obsecro mea Pythias" Hush, I beg you, my Pythias. The same, "Au, ne comparandus hic quidem ad illum est" Hush, this one is not even to be compared to that one.
Give of one mocking or irony: as Hui ha. Terence, "Hui tam cito!" Ha, so quickly! The same, "Hui tu mihi illam laudas?" Ha, do you praise her to me?
Give of one discovering something unexpectedly: as Atat aha, Terence, "Atat, hoc illud est; hinc illæ lachrymæ" Aha, this is that; from here those tears. The same, "Atat, data herclè mihi sunt verba" Aha, by Hercules, I have been deceived.
Give of one laughing: as Ha, ha, he ha, ha, he. Terence, "Ha, ha, he, defessa iam" Ha, ha, he, already exhausted.
