Grynaeus, Johann Jakob · 1587

I. Isaiah 44.5. Here one will say, I am Jehovah's (that is, Jesus Christ's, John 6.39): and he will call upon the name of Jacob: and another will write with his hand, I am Jehovah's: and will surname himself by the name of Israel. Psalm 73.1. John 1.48.
II. Romans 8.29.30. For whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. Moreover, whom He predestinated, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. 31. What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 33. Who shall bring any charge against God's Elect? It is God who justifies: Who is he that condemns? 35. Who shall separate us from the charity of Christ? 38. 39. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the charity of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
III. 2 Corinthians 1.21.22. Now He who confirms us with you in Christ, and who has anointed us, is God. Who has also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
IIII. Ephesians 1.4. According as He has chosen us in Him, etc. 5. Who has predestinated us unto the adoption of children, etc.
V. 1 Thessalonians 1.5. Knowing, beloved brethren, your election of God. The Apostle concludes ἀναλυτικῶς analytically, from faith, hope, and charity, as from τεκμηρίοις proofs, that the Thessalonians were elected from eternity unto life.
VI. John 6.37. All that the Father gives me (He gives when He chooses in the Son) shall come to me (that is, shall truly believe) and him that comes to me, I will in no wise cast out. 39. I will lose nothing of it. But the reprobate will be cast into outer darkness. Matthew 8.12.
VII. John 10.28. I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
VIII. Mark 13.22. False-Christs and False-prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if it were possible, even the Elect.
