even the Elect. 27. The Son of man shall send his Angels, and shall gather together his Elect from the four winds, etc.
VI. Demonstration.
If the Reborn, 1. glory that they are the chosen people and peculiar treasure of Jehovah Christ, for the reason that they understand through faith that they were chosen in Him: 2. If they are the same who are foreknown, predestined unto life, called, justified, and elected: If God is for His Elect, and does not suffer anyone to bring charges against them: If God justifies them: If the Elect cannot be separated from the charity of Christ: 3. If God confirms, anoints, and seals us together with other companions of faith in Christ: 4. If, with Paul, we must glory through faith, as we too are the elected and predestined whom God has adopted: 5. If from the faith, hope, and charity of other pious brothers, we ought ἀναντιρρήτως irrefutably to gather their eternal election: 6. If the Father, giving to the Son, chooses in Him: and the Son casts out or loses none of His own: 7. If He gives eternal life to His sheep, that is, the Elect, and does not suffer even one to be snatched from Him: 8. Finally, if the Elect cannot be finally seduced, and if all shall be gathered on the last day:
Then it follows that we who are reborn ought not to doubt regarding our own eternal election, or that of other Reborn persons: but we ought to firmly determine, pronounce, and glory in the Lord.
All the things that precede are true: as the stated Axioms show clearly. In these, however, it ought to be observed that the Apostles and Prophets did not speak of some special privilege granted to them κατ' ἰδίαν privately: but of the common blessing of all the Elect, which, since all enjoy it through the grace of God, all also glory in the same unto the glory of the grace of God, according to the common faith of the Elect of God.
