instilled into a wound heals it: so the truth of the Gospel written upon a contrite heart heals it most effectively. Isaiah 57:15, 18 and 61:1.
4. The property in the fourth mode of Truth is that it is according to PIETY, which is known to be profitable for all things, as it has the promise of the life present and of that which is to come. 1 Timothy 4:8, Titus 1:1. But just as the χριστἔμποροι Christ-merchants (as Ignatius calls them in his Epistle to the Magnesians) have the form of piety, but deny its power. 2 Timothy 3:5, Titus 1:16. So the truly pious attest to the genuine form of piety by its power and by their deeds. Matthew 7:17.
5. The material of the Gospel is our CHRIST. Romans 1:3, who is the truth. John 14:6.
6. The end τόδε πρὸς τόδε this relative to that, and the form are declared when it is added: The power of God unto salvation. For it is the living and effective word of God, and sharper than any sword, etc. Hebrews 4:12. And so, with this key, God opens hearts and causes them to be illuminated and to burn with faith and love, as the examples testify. Acts 16:14, Luke 24:32.
7. The end τόδε εἰς τόδε this directed toward that, the higher one, is CHRIST, who as the Head of the Church is made known through the Gospel. Ephesians 5:14, Christ shall shine upon you. The lower one is the Catholic Church. Therefore it is added by Paul, τὸ: To everyone who believes. For to the others who are perishing, the Gospel is hidden: in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds, that is, in the infidels, so that the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, may not shine upon them. 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Spiritual peace is to be understood in this same place, not only as an αἴτημα request/petition we pray to be given to us, but also as a demonstrated πείσμα conviction/certainty we presuppose. For if the truth is to be understood concerning the Gospel and its faith, who then would doubt that by the word Peace is designated spiritual blessing and unfeigned Charity, through which faith acts (Galatians 5:6) and which causes us to cultivate peace?
