To love ἀξιωματικῶς as a maxim/axiomatically in this place signifies that, having spurned all the prejudices of this World, one ought to hold τὸ Φιλητὸν the lovable object, or that which ought to be loved, in the place that is proper for it. Therefore, to love Truth and Peace is to hold them as the highest goods, delightful, and useful: and neither to doubt concerning them, nor even to change one's opinion: but to rest in them sweetly, sincerely, and perpetually.
But this love is joined with a perfect hatred of Falsehood and Discord. And this hatred, taking its origin from grace, is no less worthy of praise than the love of Truth and Peace. Thus, concerning our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we ought to be conformed according to the measure of the gift of God, it is said: You love righteousness, and hate iniquity. Psalm 45:7.
But at the same time, it is necessary to love Truth and Peace: because these two can no more be separated from each other than the brightness of the Sun can be separated from its heat. Therefore, where that Truth is, there also is Peace: and conversely, where this Peace is, there also Truth reigns.
But let us remember that this love is not kindled, fostered, and increased except in the Elect by the regenerating Spirit. 1 John 4:7. Whoever loves is born of God, and knows God.
Paul explained the question thus: Τὸ αὐτὸ φρονεῖτε, εἰρηνεύετε Be of the same mind, live in peace. 2 Corinthians 13:11. And just as in ethical, economic, and political matters: so especially in Religion and its exercises, Charity does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. οὐ χαίρει ἐπὶ τῇ ἀδικίᾳ· συγχαίρει δὲ τῇ ἀληθείᾳ it does not rejoice in injustice, but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:6.
