From these and similar sayings, and from the examples of the Saints, we gather that reason—though it must be illuminated by the light of God—and syllogistic discourse are most necessary when divine mysteries are to be discussed and pronounced upon. For one must not speak of God without Light; one must not speak of divine things without Method.
