You bend the Thunderer offended by vices, you mitigate the anger of the Parent of those above, you call all men so that they may climb to the high stars. Long ago the offspring of men and the whole world would have perished in the waves if you had not freed the pledges from death with your eternal prayer. After God, you are to us the pillar of salvation; you are hope in rough and doubtful matters, pitying our labors with mildness, you change sad things. You destroy the pestilent furies, and you repel the enemies greedy for our blood. You protect the pure, and the trembling and the guilty, with strength you make firm. Through you, nourishing peace dominates the whole world, and leisure flourishes,
