good men, that is, it makes them not envious of others, and likewise preserves them. If any bodily humors have exceeded, it levels and establishes them. And it brings forth and confirms weak old age as strong.
MAKE a mixture with one part of X and twelve parts of our water and grind finely, then place in a urinal a glass vessel used in alchemy not too high, and place an alembic a distilling apparatus on top as is fitting, and lute seal with clay or paste well the entire urinal and alembic with all the joints up to the neck of the alembic, and permit it to dry well, then place upon a furnace, not with ashes but upon iron. Thus, let the whole urinal enter up to the alembic, and close it with clay all around between the furnace and the urinal. Then light a fire, the kind you know, and oil will come through the alembic together with the water, and it will stand above the water in a yellow color. And thus continue the fire until the whole water has distilled, then permit it to cool, and extract the receiver and separate the oil from the water, and open the urinal; and you will find the body somewhat hard, yet entirely breakable and grindable. And if you wish, reiterate the distillation, and do everything as has been said above, by pouring the same water or another over the body, and distill, and it will not exit as much as the first time, and the third time almost nothing, and the body will remain in a powder not well black, which you will calcine in this way. If the body will be one ounce, pour over it three ounces of Mercury and grind together, and it will become an amalgam, like butter. Then place in a glass saucer, and lute it from the outer side, and place upon a tripod over a light fire of three or four coals, and always mix with a wooden stick, and beware, and tie your mouth and nose, because its smoke would destroy teeth. And thus continue mixing until
