...winter and nocturnal, the same Prometheus is likewise introduced, with the aid of Minerva, stealing fire from the Moon—a cold Lunar fire or cold Lunar spirits—and handing them to Mercury (who, according to the Chemists, is the principle of natural things), who offers and insinuates this same cold fire to cold Saturn, or lead (the first of metals, leprous gold), and the remaining metals; to Neptune for the sea, waters, and aquatic creatures; to Flora for cold, opiate, poppy-like, and chicory-like vegetables; to Winter for freezing things; to the Old Man who desires death for the purpose of putting to flight warm Spirits; and to Death itself for the purpose of extinguishing life and the radiation of fiery Spirits.
