Note that when a long vowel is at the end, a word cannot be proparoxytone. If there is a tone before two syllables, a circumflex is not placed, but an acute is always used. Above a long vowel by position, a circumflex is not placed, but an acute is always used. A long before a long is not circumflexed, but it always has an acute. Every naturally long vowel, before a short ending in one part of speech and having the tone upon itself, is circumflexed.
How many quantities: two: the long and the short.

How many breathings? Two: the rough and the smooth. What is the place of the breathings? All vowels that are only at the beginning of words, and of the consonants only the ρ, found at the beginnings of words. How many affections? Three: the apostrophe, the hyphen, and the sub-comma.

What is a sentence? A composition of words, signifying a self-sufficient thought. How many parts of speech? Eight: noun, verb, participle, article, pronoun, preposition, adverb, conjunction.
