A decorative crest at the base of the pillar depicts an eagle with its wings outspread, facing left.
A large central triangle contains a radiant sun with beams of light emanating from a central Jerusalem cross. A Jerusalem cross consists of a large central cross with four smaller crosses in its quadrants. The letter E is positioned at the top of the triangle. Along the left inner edge is the motto "In this sign you shall conquer" (original: "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES"). Along the right inner edge is a sequence of letters representing various Masonic honors or degrees: "ROR HRDM KTD SBHLO H". At the three corners of the triangle are the letters V, I, and A, spelling the word for "The Way" (original: "VIA").
ALPHA OMEGA original: "APA OMG". These are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, symbolizing the beginning and the end.
THREE JOINED IN ONE original: "TRIA IUNCTA IN UNO". This is the motto of the Order of the Bath and refers to the union of kingdoms or the Trinity.
At the top of the pillar are celestial symbols representing the sun, a crescent moon, and stars. Below these is a vertical sequence of symbols: the Hebrew letter Aleph, a square, a circle, a six-pointed star, and a triangle.

At the base of the pillar is the Royal Arms of England, featuring three lions and a crown.
