...the aspect of Truth. They were forced to be given in two "Drops." This is what "raises the Feminine Waters." However, the ones they brought in are doubled. Therefore, four spirits were made from them: four for the Male and four for the Female. They mix with one another. What is the meaning of "bringing them in" in the Zohar? The lower union is called a "physical union" because there is substance and vitality in the drop of seed. It is known that the life-force of the procreative drop comes from the "Source of Life," drawn from the Mind Da'at itself. From the Mind, it spreads to all the limbs. The intermediaries are the seal of the breaths. The essence of the lower union is in the lower six attributes.
However, the high union of "Kisses" Neshikin is from the three upper attributes of the Male joining with the three upper attributes of the Female. The matter is that every "Kiss" is an aspect of the "Breath of the Mouth" Hevel ha-Peh that emerges from the lungs to the throat. This is the attribute of Understanding Binah. For it is known that the breaths emerge from Understanding. Thus, their "mouths" are from the lower seven attributes. However, from the seal of the light, their mouths are drawn from the three upper attributes. These "breaths" can go from the mouth outward. This is hinted at by the ten words in the verse "Let him kiss me..."
The explanation is that the Intellects of the Small Face Zeir Anpin are like the life-force of the higher Intellects. They join in the mouth of the three upper attributes through the spreading of the Mind Da'at. The secret of this union is in the "Palate," for the palate corresponds to Wisdom Chachmah and the throat to Understanding Binah. The tongue is the Mind Da'at. There, the foundations join. Through their intellects, the Male and Female join together as Loving-kindness alone. The breath is what emerges by itself.
The union of "Kisses" is the "cleaving of spirit to spirit." The lower union is the "cleaving of body to body" through the drop of seed. But the "Kiss" union is purely spiritual cleaving. It is the spirit that emerges through the kiss and the spirit received by the mouth of the female. Each of these two spirits is doubled into two, as it says in the portion Terumah: "And they are two spirits..."
In gestation Ibur, the drop grows. Aspects of the "Crown" and "Vessels" were added. It is explained that in the formation of the general body of the Small Face Zeir Anpin, there are three joints. Now in gestation, the three lower foundations are added to the Small Face. These lower foundations are completed in the place of the emotional attributes Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet. They join together through the foundations of the joints. These are the nine attributes of the Small Face during gestation. They are all just the aspects of the foundations within the general emotional and lower attributes.
The three upper attributes, which are the "Crown" and the "Intellects," are completed in the place of the emotional attributes. These are called the "Intellects of Gestation" Mohin de-Ibur. Know that all intellectual faculties in the world are drawn from Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge Chachmah, Binah, Da'at. They are the roots of all wisdom and reason. Therefore, it is impossible for the Small Face to receive them except through the higher intellects. They give a part of themselves, their "Crowns," to clothe these Intellects. Through these, they enter and spread within the Small Face so it can receive them.
Understand this: just as the Small Face is now in the aspect of the "Lower Foundations" Netzach, Hod, Yesod, so too the power of the higher intellects clothes these Intellects within the Small Face. These "Crowns" of the intellects are the aspects that grow and become established. This is why a person must eat and bless. This is the secret of the "Spirit in the legs." They also say, "An embryo is like the thigh of its mother." This is because it only takes the aspect of the "legs" and "thighs" from their power alone.
Behold, the two aspects of "Kisses" mentioned are for the embryo in its mother's womb. They are spread out high above this. Therefore, they are within one another. The vessel in the lower joint clothes the vessel in the middle joint. The vessel of the middle joint clothes the vessel of the upper joint. Thus, the length of the embryo is not great, it is only a little above. The total length is nine aspects.
In the right line, the secret of the lower joint clothes the "Majesty" Hod of the middle joint. This middle one clothes the secret of the upper joint. In the middle line, the "Foundation" Yesod of the lower joint stands alone, revealed, and clothes the other two foundations. Thus, during gestation, the Small Face only reveals the "lowest of the low." This is the secret of the Zohar's addendum in the portion Beshalach, page 50, that the Small Face was "three included in three." This means its higher attributes were clothed within its lower attributes. This "inclusion" means "clothing."
The five "Kindnesses" Chasadim within the emotional attributes are not revealed at all. Only the final "Crowns" are revealed. This is the secret of the embryo standing folded in its mother's womb: its head is between its knees, and its body and arms are covered by its thighs. It is round like a ball, folded in three joints. This is the secret in our books that the emotional attributes were "in potential but not in action." This means they only had the power of the "Crowns." The Intellects were also only in potential. This is the end of the words of Rabbi Isaac Luria Maharhu, of blessed memory.
In the "Tree of Life" Etz Chaim, page 43, he wrote: At the birth of the Small Face Zeir Anpin, there were four types of unions. The first union was to bring out the vitality of the Intellects. The second union was to make the Intellects of Loving-kindness and Severity. The Small Face clothes the Intellects of its mother Imma during gestation up to her "Navel." Within him, the intellects are clothed until the end of his "Foundation." From the vitality of these, the "Heart" was made to be hidden within his three intellects during the rest of the intellects.
This is the hint in the addendum to Beshalach regarding the "three spirits included in two." It is known that the Small Face had three vitalities. In these three, it was raised up into the womb of its mother. They were only "three included in three." According to the secret I have made known to you, their measure is up to the navel of the mother. They double the emotional attributes of the mother. These droplets were expanded in the secret of gestation and became his spiritual inheritance within the mother's womb in the secret of Understanding Binah.
The union of the Small Face and its Female was produced from the Mother's own intellect through the union of her "Foundation." The mother's foundation produced a single drop and placed it in the womb to create the child. At the end of six months, the secret of the Female was with him. In page 28, it says: The higher intellects rose to the emotional attributes of the mother and clothed the "Victory," "Majesty," and the "Crown of Foundation" of the Long Face Arich Anpin. This is the secret of the "three spirits," for the Small Face is the aspect of Spirit Ruach and the Female Malchut is called the "Stone of Stones."
Know that there is an aspect of "Foundation" Yesod even in the state of spiritual "Immaturity" Katnut. It is called the "Seal." This measure of the Female in her immaturity is also limited. Therefore, her blood is contained until her gestation. The five "Kindnesses" Chasadim are found there. The Foundation is called "All." Only the "garments" of the intellects are within it. These Kindnesses amount to the number of "Kindness."
