An engraved frontispiece illustrates the parables of Jesus. At the center, a winged allegorical figure, likely Fame or an angel, sits on a stone monument and points towards a large tablet which bears the title: "C. VITRINGA'S EXPLANATION OF THE EVANGELICAL PARABLES." Surrounding the central figure are nine circular and rectangular vignettes depicting various biblical scenes, each accompanied by a citation: Matthew 22:1-14, Luke 15:11-32, Matthew 13:44, Matthew 13:47-50, Matthew 18:23-35, Luke 15:10, Matthew 13:3-8, Matthew 25:1-13, Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 12:16-21, Luke 13:6-12, Luke 10:30-37, Luke 16:1-13, and Luke 16:19. At the bottom of the engraving is a wide rectangular scene showing Jesus preaching from a boat to a crowd on the shore, labeled Matthew 13:1. The base of the monument is inscribed with "AMSTERDAM BY HENDRIK STRIK." The artist's signature "J. Goeree inv. et fec." original: "invented and made it" appears in the bottom right corner.
An ornamental printer's device or vignette depicts a radiant sun rising above decorative floral scrolls.
