The ancient noble baronial house of Dalberg and Kammerer von Worms seems, from its very beginning until our present times, to have been destined by Providence to spread its brilliance in various ways and to distinguish itself quite honorably. It has given the Church and the State the greatest men, who have made themselves particularly meritorious. It soared to the highest dignities it could possibly reach, to which its own merits contributed everything. It is a pity that no coherent history of this house has yet been written, so that one might survey everything as a whole and weigh the merits it has made its own all the sooner.
