If ever a lineage deserved its own special history, it would be the baronial house of Dalberg, which, without flattery, is very old and has made itself famous. One need not derive its age from the times of the Romans, according to the taste of previous centuries; it is indeed old and brilliant enough if its certainty can be historically authenticated and proven through documents from the 10th century. However, this is not my ultimate purpose, and I speak here only in general of the brilliance that this house spread over itself and how it distinguished itself in the realm of scholarship.
