E A handwritten shelf mark or capital letter.
A circular printed emblem pasted on the left page of the spread. The emblem features a central depiction of a pelican in her piety, pecking her breast to feed three chicks in a nest with her own blood. This is a traditional symbol of self-sacrifice and Christ. Above the pelican is a crown and a green sprig. Below the nest is a heraldic shield containing four red roses. The background within the circle is blue. The border of the emblem contains the printed text "Hermetic Philosophy" original: "PHILOSOPHIA HERMETICA".
