a belief, liberty an authority; and reciprocally, woman a man and man a woman. Here, the very definitions oppose confusion. It is by perfectly distinguishing these terms that one arrives at an agreement between them. Now, the perfect and eternal distinction of the two primitive terms of the creative syllogism a logical argument where a conclusion is drawn from two premises, in order to demonstrate their harmony through the analogy of opposites, is the second great principle of this occult philosophy. This philosophy is veiled under the name of kabbale Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition and indicated by all the sacred hieroglyphs of the ancient sanctuaries, as well as the rites of ancient and modern masonry which are still so little understood.
We read in the Scripture that Solomon had two bronze columns placed before the door of the temple. One was called Jakin Jachin, meaning "He shall establish" and the other Boaz meaning "In strength", which signifies the strong and the weak. These two columns represented man and woman, reason and faith, power and liberty, Cain and Abel, right and duty. They were the columns of the intellectual and moral world. They were the monumental hieroglyph of the antinomy a contradiction between two laws or principles that are both reasonable necessary to the great law of creation. Indeed, every force requires a resistance for support. Every light requires a shadow as a foil. Every protrusion requires a hollow. Every outpouring requires a receptacle. Every reign requires a kingdom, every sovereign a people, every worker a raw material, and every conqueror a subject of conquest. Affirmation establishes itself through negation. The strong only triumphs in comparison with the weak. The aristocracy only manifests itself by rising above the people. Whether the weak can become strong, or whether the people can conquer an aristocratic position, is a question of transformation and pro—
