The first figure. Concerning the image of Christ stretching out his arms in the manner of a Cross, and concerning his names pertaining to the divine or human nature.
This image description is editorial content. A complex figured poem consisting of a grid of characters, approximately 47 rows by 41 columns. Superimposed over the grid is a woodcut-style figure of Christ crucified, rendered in red and black ink. The figure's outstretched arms and body contain specific letters that form internal verses. Red horizontal lines also highlight certain rows of text. The entire grid is enclosed in a double-line border.
BUT THE OFFSPRING OF THE LORD AND THE LORD OF LORDS EVERYWHERE HERE
BEHOLD, TEACHES THROUGH HIS OUTSTRETCHED HANDS THE CUSTOM TO BE HELD
OF THE ONE WHO FORMS [MANKIND]; THE FLOCK JUSTIFIES AND WORSHIPS THIS ONE.
AND THUS, IN THE MANNER OF ONE GROWING WEARY ON THIS CROSS, THE PEOPLE
RIGHTLY APPROVE HIS LIMBS, AND HE PROMISES THE PARENT OF THE LAW.
FOR SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER CALL THIS ONE JESUS FROM THE HEIGHT OF THE SUMMITS.
AND I PROVE THAT HE IS KING. BUT JUDEA WAS FOUND IN EVILS
WHICH KILLED THE KING; YET HE, VIGOROUS AND POWERFUL,
BROKE THE WARLIKE WEAPONS, FULFILLING THE TEACHINGS OF ISAIAH.
FIRST LET US BE EAGER, LEST ANYONE FROM HERE SHOULD DOUBT EVILLY.
THE HOLY AUTHOR IS SILENT IN THIS WORLD AS THE ETERNAL LORD:
IT IS FITTING THAT ALL THINGS BE HANDED TO THE HIGHEST, BECAUSE HIS RIGHT HAND
SNATCHED THE PROVEN, HOLY PREY FROM THE DEPTH BY HIS BLOOD.
THUS PLACED ON THE CROSS, GOD HAD GIVEN A CROWN FROM THE CITADEL.
HERE GOD IS THE BEGINNING, EMMANUEL, AND THE END, THE ORIGIN.
LIGHT, AND IMAGE OF THE FATHER, THE MOUTH, BRIGHTNESS, GLORY, CHRIST.
CONSUBSTANTIAL original: "Homousion" WITH THE FATHER, THE SUN, THE WORD, LIGHT FROM LIGHT WITH
THE EQUAL HAND OF THE LORD; HE IS EITHER POWER, LEADER, OR PROPHET:
WHOM WE JUSTLY CONFESS AS THE ONLY-BEGOTTEN AND FIRST-BORN BY MOUTH:
THE NAZARENE, THOUGH HE BECOMES AN OFFENSE AND A STUMBLING BLOCK TO THE UNJUST.
HE IS THE ANGEL, AND THE STONE, FROM HERE THE DOOR TO THE WORLD THAT IS TO ASCEND.
BEHOLD, THE TRUTH IS CLOTHED IN A GARMENT; I SHALL EXPLAIN WHAT CHRIST
DECLARES BY HIS TEACHING: THIS SMALL GARMENT ALSO SIGNIFIES
THE LAW: FOR HERE THE ALL-POWERFUL AUTHOR IS COVERED IN RARE LETTERS,
THE RULER WHO CONTAINS ALL THINGS.
BUT TO WHOM THE WORLD PERTAINS, THE STARS, AND THE SEA, AND THE ETHER,
AND OUR NATURE IS NARROW AND FOUL TO THE CREATOR.
FOR THIS HUMAN [SIGHT] COVERS OR SHUTS OUT THE AUTHOR (WHO CLOSES THE LANDS IN HIS PALM),
BEHOLD THE POWERFUL ONE.
YET HE HIMSELF IS SHOWN EVERYWHERE TO THIS WORLD BY HIS OWN WORK.
HE IS THE ANGEL, HE IS THE BRIDEGROOM, THIS IS THE DEVOTION AND TEACHING
FOR THE PEOPLE, WISDOM, AND ALSO THE PEACE-MAKING GUARDIAN.
THE FOUNTAIN, THE ARM, AND THE BREAD, AND THE DIVINE ROCK, THE MASTER.
THE RISING STAR, WHO IS ALSO A POWERFUL CARE, AN INTENT REMEDY,
THE KEY AND THIS DAVID, THE JOYFUL WAY, AND THE HONORABLE LAMB,
THE SANCTIFYING SERPENT, MAY HE BE THE ILLUSTRIOUS MEDIATOR.
THAT MAN IS THE WORM, AND HE WHO DREW BACK THE PLUNDER FROM THE ENEMY (AND LIFE),
THE MOUNTAIN, THE EAGLE, THE COMFORTER original: "paraclytus", THUS THE LION, THE SHEPHERD, AND THE KID.
THE FOUNDATION, THE SHEEP, AND THE PRIEST PIOUSLY RENDERING VOWS,
ALSO THE WINE AND BREAD OF MELCHIZEDEK THE HIGH PRIEST,
WHO IS THE CALF, THE RAM, BOUND HOLY BY THE FLESH FROM WHICH HE IS MADE.
An ornate woodcut initial letter A depicting a seated figure, likely a scholar or cleric, in a contemplative pose within a small room.
But the offspring of the Lord and the Lord of lords everywhere here
Behold, teaches through His outstretched hands the custom to be held
of the one who forms [mankind]; the flock justifies and worships this one.
And thus, in the manner of one growing weary on this Cross, for the people
rightly approve His limbs, and He promises the parent of the law.
It is fitting that all things be handed to the highest, because His right hand
snatched the proven, holy prey from the depth by His blood:
Thus placed on the Cross, God had given a crown from the citadel.
Here God is the beginning, Emmanuel, and the end, the origin.
Light, and image of the Father, the mouth, brightness, glory, Christ
He is the Angel, he is the Bridegroom, this is the devotion and teaching for the people,
and the wisdom, and also the peace-making guardian.
The fountain, the arm, and the bread, and the divine rock, the master.
The rising star, who is also a powerful care, an intent remedy,
the key and this David, the joyful way, and the honorable lamb,
the sanctifying serpent, may he be the illustrious mediator.
That man is the worm, and he who drew back the plunder from the enemy (and life),
the mountain, the eagle, the comforter, thus the lion, the shepherd, and the kid.
The foundation, the sheep, and the priest piously rendering vows,
also the wine and bread of Melchizedek original: "Melchi pontificis sadech" the high priest,
who is the calf, the ram, bound holy by the flesh from which he is made.
