The second book of wonders

For I have kept you under the influence of my Spirit, to guide and guard you to this day; and I have tested you in every way. I have tested you with jealousies; I have permitted Satan to deceive you, to see if you would follow a wrong spirit; and when I found you would not, but saw you were wounded and heartbroken, fearing what step to take—knowing that my warnings would be great if you turned back—this made you fear what to do when Satan assaulted you. But when you began to sink like Peter, I held your hand, just as I held Peter’s." A reference to Matthew 14:28-31, where Jesus catches Peter as he begins to sink while walking on the water.
Here I ended, Wednesday night, Oct. 6th, 1813.

Thursday morning, as I was sitting up in my bed around five o'clock, a flash of light came into my room, which I thought was the candle blazing as it went out; but immediately a loud clap of thunder followed. Then the lightning came flash after flash, and the thunder seemed to roll in the distance.

I was answered that, now, the light should burst upon humanity; for they shall hear his thunder one way or the other. For the meaning of preserving the Tree of Life was to bring the woman to perfect obedience, as all who are born into the world are born of woman, and in her, life is created.

"And now I shall answer you, to make it plain to mankind what is meant by being in my form.

"For now I tell them it is in the heart,
I have made like mine; and you have felt the dart,
In love and pity to feel so for man;
And let them read your petitions again,
And then every soul may see my likeness,
The very way I have formed your heart;
