The second book of wonders

"It was for us he bore the curse;
"We do not want an Eve
"To appear to clear her guilt;
"Our guilt is done away;
"And Satan may still use his skill,
"He can no longer betray;
"The woman first brought on the curse
"By Satan's artful hand.
"Shall we believe at the last,
"That Christ will stand in her,
"To bring her near, to clear the guilt,
"To stand where she once fell?
"If true obedience is in her,
"He will turn the guilt from all.
"Is this the wisdom of a God,
"To change the tide this way?
"Such things were never known to man:
"The Bridegroom, not the Bride;
"In all our Bibles, we admit,
"The Bridegroom is foretold;
"But we ask, where is the Bride here?
"Shall we hold to this doctrine?" —
I will tell you where it appears;
Let learned men dispute,
And when their arguments appear,
I will surely silence them.
From Adam's fall, let it be known to all,
The promise was foretold,
It was to Eve, let them believe;
I will unfold the mysteries.
When they have assigned their reasons
Why this can never be,
My wisdom always stands behind,
And you shall all see that.
For blessed is the BARREN WOMB,
That never yet nursed;
Because the time is hastening on
They will find there is milk in her.
For they shall all see it will be milk,
Although the breasts seem dry;
For as I made the water wine,
I will bring it about this way."
