Let us therefore consider man, according to this established basis, as being placed in the center of the sphere; thus, his head will show and reveal to us the Zenit the point directly above, and his feet will show us the Nadir the point directly below.
If his eyes start from these two points, he can describe a half circle. However, to complete this half circle entirely, he must take refuge in his understanding, that is, in higher knowledges.
This first circle shall be called the Aequator Equator; the second, which he can describe with the tips of his fingers, the Meridian; and finally the third, of which he has drawn one part with his senses and the other part in thought, the Horizont Horizon.
These three circles are now completely sufficient to prove and make clear everything in the higher sciences and human knowledges; but there must not be fewer, because the Dreizahl triad or number three is entirely necessary for the discovery and the finding of truth. Now we want to continue to speak in a way understandable to every person, and postpone expressing it geometrically for another time.
If one now describes these three great circles,
which are correct and true even in regard to the form of the earth, upon the sphere, what important things one discovers there!
God as the unity, which gives a triad; man as a composition of soul, spirit, and body; nature as something consisting of salt, sulfur, and Merkur mercury; the Book of Thoth in its distinct parts, as 22 of the largest, 16 of the smallest number of all, and 40 less significant leaves referring to the tarot cards: 22 Major Arcana, 16 Court Cards, and 40 Pip Cards. So too in arithmetic, the number 3 is composed of the even and the odd; in geometry, the three dimensions are height, length, and width.
These three parts, 22, 16, and 40, could they not be what you call the physical spirit of the Book of Thoth? Yes, they are.
The sphere, or the world, being 1, has given occasion for the creation of the Book of Thoth; 3 makes up the spirit of the former and the latter; and 7 is, as Cicero says, the key and the explanation of everything.
But before we go further, it is now necessary that we find, above all, the number which signifies nature. Can one indeed
