...the evil-doers among men; but they endure punishment and much torment. And taking them, he brought them into the very place of purification and was walking in the temple. And a certain Pharisee, a chief priest, named Levi restoration of the name, met them and said to the Savior, "Who allowed you to tread this place of purification and to see these holy vessels, not having washed, nor your disciples having been baptized in their feet? But defiled you have trodden this temple, which is a pure place, which no other man treads unless he has washed and changed his garments, nor does he dare to see these holy vessels." "...you, then, being here in the temple, are you clean?" He says to him, "I am clean; for I washed in the pool of David, and having descended by one staircase I ascended by another, and I put on white garments, and they were clean, and then I came and looked upon these holy vessels." The Savior, having answered him, said, "Woe, you blind, who do not see. You have washed in these running waters in which dogs and swine have been thrown by night and day, and having washed the outside skin..."
