1. "who has been called": so D*FG; "called who" ℵAB, W-H, "who was called" DᶜEKL, T-R.
5. The addition of "in" before "the" is peculiar to the papyrus.
10. "likewise": so ℵAB, W-H; "likewise also" KL, T-R, "likewise and also" DEFG.
11. ℵ*FG place "is" after "Christ".
12. The first "e" of "become" has been converted from an "i".
13-14. In DEFG "brethren" follows "each". "you were called" D*.
14-15. "beside": so ℵBDEF, &c., W-H; but "beside | with" (A, T-R) would be an equally suitable reading.
20. "good": D*FG add "it is".
23. "if you marry": so ℵB ("marry" A), W-H; "marry" KL, T-R, "take a wife" DEFG.
24. "to marry": the papyrus may of course have had "marry" with D*FG. "the" before "virgin" is omitted by BFG, and bracketed by W-H.
25. "in": "in the" D*FG. "not" should have been "not" before "she sinned", as in l. 23.
28. "the time": so ℵAB, &c., W-H; "that the time" DEFG, T-R.
29. "it is remaining": so D*, but without interpunctuation; "it is the remaining" ℵAB ("it is" B), "it is remaining it is" FG, "the remaining it is" DᶜEKL. "it is; the remaining" W-H with variant "it is the remaining", "the remaining it is" T-R.
34. "the world": so ℵAB, W-H; "the world this" D*FG, "the world this" ℵDᵇᶜEKLP, T-R.
39. "she may please": so ℵABDEFG, W-H; "she pleases" KLP, T-R. The same variation occurs in ll. 40 and 45.
41-2. "and is divided": so ℵABD: om. "and" DᶜEFGKL.
"and the": om. "and" D*E.
"the unmarried woman and the virgin": so BP; "the unmarried woman and the virgin" ℵAᵇ, "the woman and the virgin the unmarried" DEFGKL.
The reading and punctuation of the papyrus coincides with that adopted by W-H (= B); "the woman is divided and the virgin. The unmarried etc." T-R, and so Tischendorf with the addition of "and" before and after "is divided".
43. "and" is read after "holy" by ℵBFGKL; om. AD. "[and]" W-H.
"in body and in spirit": so DEFGKL, T-R; "the" is added before both words by ℵAB, W-H.
44. "the things of the world": om. B.
45. "she may please": cf. note on l. 39.
46. "your": "your own" MSS. "benefit" is also the reading of ℵABD, W-H; "advantage" ℵDᶜEFGKL, T-R.
48. "consistent": so ℵABDE, &c., W-H; "accessible" K, T-R.
49. "to be": "distraction-free" MSS.
50-1. D* places "thinks" before "toward the virgin".
53. "let her marry" D*FG.
54. "in": "in the" MSS., but the inclusion of "in" would make the supplement rather long for the lacuna, and its omission, which was easy after the preceding "-en", is supported by l. 57. T-R omits "his own" with KL.
55. "steadfast" is placed after "stands" in ℵKL, T-R.
56. "but": om. A.
57. "in": "in the" MSS.; cf. l. 54, note.
"own heart": so ℵAB, W-H; "heart of him" DEFGKL, T-R.
58. "to keep" ℵAB, W-H; "of to keep" DEFGKL, T-R.
59. "will do": so ℵAB, W-H; "does" DEFGKL, T-R.
