4–5. The blurred and broken letters are here difficult to identify, but the indications favor the supposition that "you" original: "σου" was omitted after "the daughters, the sons and the cattle," as in the Masoretic text, various cursives and versions, and Philo. The Codex Ephraemi a 5th-century Greek manuscript of the Bible omits "the" before "sons" and "cattle" before "my."
6. The "n" of "all" original: "παντα" was apparently repeated by mistake; cf. l. 30, where there is an inadvertent omission, and note on ll. 26–7. After "see" original: "ορασ" E adds "all" original: "ολα", with "the" in place of "as many as"; but these variants are less suitable to the space.
7. "Of the daughters" original: "των θυγα[τε]ρ̣ων": so Masoretic text; "the daughters" original: "ταις θυγατρασιν" other manuscripts. (Daughters original: "θυγατερες" Codex Alexandrinus), omitted by Philo.
9–10. "Covenant I will make" original: "διαθηκην διαθησωμεθα" E.
12. "Jacob" which stands after "him" in Codex Alexandrinus was doubtless omitted in the papyrus.
13. Unless "is" original: "εστιν" was divided, "behold" original: "ιδου" seems rather better adapted to the space than "see" original: "ιδε"; omitted by E.
15. "As a pillar" original: "εις στηλην" (E) is also admissible.
18. "Him" original: "α[υτον": "the name of him" (E) does not suit.
20. "She" is omitted in D, E, M, etc.
23. "Name": so D, M and a number of cursives; "name of him" Codex Alexandrinus, "name of that place" E. After "mound" E reads "of witness" instead of "witness."
24. "The vision": omits "the" E.
"Saw": so D (original: "ιδον"), saw E; said AM.
"Look upon": so D, E, M; look upon A.
26–7. "Humiliation" was perhaps written by a dittography accidental repetition of letters or words for "humiliations"; cf. l. 6. The marginal reading of M, "you will do wrong," does not help. For "take" D reads "you might take," E "you might forget."
30. Read: "I" original: "εγω".

1168. JOSHUA iv–v.

A fragment from the bottom of a vellum leaf inscribed with well-formed upright uncials of a medium size, and probably of the fourth century. The omega is shallow and high in the line, as in 847. A high stop is twice added in a blacker ink than that used by the original writer. Eleven lines are lost at the top of the recto, and the height of the leaf may be estimated at about 15.5 cm.
