...purifies the impurities; triphalā the three fruits and citraka leadwort remove poison. Therefore, one should cause the mercury to swoon (mūrchā) seven times with these mixtures. ॥ Now, the Utthāpana Raising/Restoration process for the swooned mercury is described ॥ Through this method, the mercury becomes pure. This process destroys the afflictions of the mūrchā swooning process. [5]

॥ Now, the Pātana Distillation process is explained ॥ By using a copper box, one causes the nāga lead and vaṅga tin to leave the mercury. In this way, the mercury is purified. [8] One must perform this process twenty-one times.

॥ Now, the Nirodha Restraint process, the sixth process, is explained ॥ Through the processes of mardana, mūrchā, and pātana, the mercury is restrained. [9]
