[77] After the steaming and rubbing in the Kacchapa Yantra, the internal liquefaction of all metals occurs through the power of fire. [78] The fire is the primary factor here. [79] Biḍa a special mixture of salts is defined as a lump prepared from specific ingredients. [199] Thus ends the eighth chapter of the Rasahr̥daya, "The Sequence of Digestion Methods."
Now, the formula for the digestion method: one should proceed so that the mercury digests the grāsa without obstruction. [80] The mercury swallows the grāsa using metals and alkalis. [80]
Now, the method for biḍa is begun. One should digest the rasa into the state of the "King of Metals" using sauvarcala black salt, the three pungent substances black pepper, long pepper, and dry ginger, and sulfur. [82]
The method for kṣāra alkali and the special rules for rasagulma are described. One should collect the ashes of alkaline trees like the plantain, Palasha, and others. [85] Mix with water and filter through cloth. [85]
When the alkaline water is boiling and produces bubbles, one should add the three pungent substances, asafoetida, sulfur, and the six salts. [86] Mix these, apply the paste, and place it in a small iron bowl for seven days. After this, it is used for mercury digestion. [87]
The use of biḍa in mercury: one should do this in eighth parts to ensure proper digestion by fire. [89] Thus ends the seventh chapter of the Ratnaharṣa.
Now, the "coloring" of mercury is described. The coloring, known as rañjana dyeing/coloration, is what produces the yellow and other colors in mercury. [90] The signs of mercury digested with mica are described: it shows a shape like a cloud, copper-colored, yellow, white, or mixed. [91]
The power of mica-digested mercury: one should know that through the union of mica and iron, the digestion and coloring are perfected. [94]
