by them. [15] Through the combination in the bhāva state of being/process, the mixture becomes clear like a kheṭaka a type of vessel or specific alchemical state. [15] Through the combination with kheṭaka and puru, the sun representing fire or heat causes the dissolution of the kheṭa. [16] After falling into the sad-sāpāke proper ripening/cooking, it generates heat even in the ispana a type of metal or mineral impurity. [16] He speaks of another method: through the combination of speed, mercury, smell, and the nāla tube, with the action of fire, it becomes a beautiful peḍikā small basket or container. [17] It reddens the sattva essence with abhraka mica and mercury. [17] He speaks of the special rules for the "Great Seeds" (mahābījāni). By this method of seed-rising and reddening, the reddening is to be performed. [18] Three parts of mercury are to be combined with gold; this is the best seed (varabīja). [18]
He describes the method for the mitigation of vāta wind/air element. One should purify the white vakrasattva twisted or crooked essence with its own juice, or perform the pīḍā pressing/crushing for thirty times. This is as stated in the previous verses regarding the method of processing.
The self-realized soul, with a mind of great wisdom, performs this noble task for the benefit of others. [1] Now, one should place it in the taila-yantra oil apparatus with great care. The increase of potency through piercing is what is famously called the sāraṇa-tantra. [2] The importance of sāraṇa for mercury: even if the rasendra king of liquids/mercury is fed with seeds, if it lacks sāraṇa, it does not permeate the body nor does it solidify into iron. [3]
One should cook the sāraṇa-taila transmutation oil by combining [ingredients] in one vessel, starting with manda, kama, and others, smeared with water. [1]
Cook with double the quantity of red decoction and milk, using jyotiṣmatī Cardiospermum halicacabum, bibhītaka Terminalia bellirica, and bitter tumbī bottle gourd oil. [2]
Pomegranate, palāśa, vadhu banyan, saffron, turmeric, mañjiṣṭhā, lac, and red sandalwood constitute the red group. [4]
