...in the middle of the sulfur, by the heat of the fire, it is made into a form, and a paste is made of gold, mercury, and sulfur. [24] Regarding the method of mixing the rod daṇḍa for the previously mentioned: that gold-paste is released from the sulfur. In this way, through the mixture with gold, it is done instantly. [25] Commentary: The paste of gold is associated with the Datura plant. The sulfur is released, and the mercury is mixed with gold through the process mentioned earlier. [26] Since the essence of silver is not sufficient to be the wings, other methods of cutting the wings are used... [27] Commentary: Those who do not desire the cutting of the wings by the method mentioned earlier use gold and sulfur to perform the calcination... [28] Having pointed out the mica-movement (gagana-cāraṇa), he praises other methods: in this way, by many faults and great confusion, they consider mica-movement to be... contradicting the science of alchemy. [28] Commentary: The instruction is given by which it is accomplished... with many difficulties and confusions. [29] Regarding the mica-content: it is without residue. It moves quickly. As long as it does not merge into the essence, it is not "bound." [28] Commentary: It is called "un-residued." It has subtle motion... it is "all-pervading" because it permeates the body... it is "imperishable" because it is always existent.

...abhraka-cāraṇa mica-movement is the third understanding. Now, the arka-cāraṇa sun/copper-movement: the one that is reddened, yellowed, though bright, is without the heavy essence, lacking the fire of work, the essence is fallen. It should be used. [31] Regarding the sun-essence movement: [32] ...they receive that essence. By the release, it becomes capable of cutting the wings of the mercury. Through this, it is restrained and bound. [35] Showing the authority for mercury-binding: one who desires to cut the wings and perform the connection... [4] The symptoms of the wing-cut mercury: when dropped, it does not bounce, it stands firm... [55] Showing the inability to release the essence when the previously mentioned instructions are abandoned: the four colors, white etc., when cooked, the mercury releases the essence...
