With the powder of Viśālā Citrullus colocynthis and Āṅkola Alangium salvifolium, it releases the defect of tin. It destroys the impurity of dust, Chitraka Plumbago zeylanica, fire-seeing likely a botanical descriptor, Tripaṇī Desmodium triflorum, and Chāṁstala. Saline urine and Triphalā a compound of three fruits are destroyers of poison. Kaṭutraya the three pungents: pepper, long pepper, ginger and Giridoṣa mountain defects, Aṁsa, Agnitri-kaṇṭaka Acacia nilotica. For each defect, Kṛlāmāṁsī, then with Sauvarcala sochal salt and other salts. Having strained it through a clean cloth, put the mercury in a mortar and, in order, grind it carefully for seven days each. The intelligent one should wash it with warm water and the essence of mercury. It becomes free of all defects, devoid of the seven layers impurities. The purified mercury is then joined with the transmuting jewel. According to another view, one should grind it well for seven days with Kumārī Aloe vera and the powder of Niśā turmeric. One should perform distillation in a Pātana-yantra distillation apparatus and afterward apply the purification. According to another view, with Śrīkhaṇḍa sandalwood, Devadāru Cedrus deodara, Kapittha, Tuṇḍī, and the juices of Japā Hibiscus, Kaṭu-kūṭi, Muśalī, and the juice of Kanyā Aloe vera, one should grind the mercury. Perform distillation in a Pātana-yantra, and afterward apply the purification. According to another view, grind with the juice of Pāribhadra Erythrina variegata and Hingu asafoetida for the measure of a yāma three hours. With the juice of Jambīra lemon and sun-plant in the Vadhakāñcaka-yantra, one should join the mercury in the process. It becomes free of the seven layers and is purified mercury. One should join this in the transmuting work. Thus, the purifications are stated; one should perform them as desired. Thus, the purification of mercury is told. Now I shall speak of the herbs in the work of incinerating mercury: Brahmadāṇḍī Tricholepis glaberrima, Meghanāda Amaranthus spinosus, Chitraka, Droṇamuṣṭaka, Vajravallī, Balā, Śāṅgī, Kuṭumbārthacandrikā, Viṣamuṣṭi, Arka, Lāṅgalī, Gosuraka, Tuṇḍikā, Kanyā, Bāṇḍā, Linīkanda, Sarpākṣī, Śarapuṅkhikā, Rambhā, Guñjā, Nirguṇḍī, Lajjāri, Devadālī.
