The Jewel Mine of Mercury

Wherefore, having applied fire, one should cause the mercury to be digested. Grind setu the bridge/binding agent with the juices of jamvīra citron. Apply a firm layer of culikā a specific mineral salt, lavaṇa salt, and gandha sulfur; in the absence of oil or bile, grind [the mixture] with jamvīra juice and apply this coating to the mercury. Thus, the jāraṇa digestion/absorption process should be performed, after which the sūta mercury should be killed. Alternatively, one should digest the mercury, stripped of its face, through the application of the seed.

Now, the viḍayantra the apparatus for processing base metals is described.

I shall speak of the viḍayantra. The expert should refine it well. One should steep it for a day in śaṅkhacūrṇa conch shell powder and goat's milk in the sun. original: "tad jamvīradravaiḥ pītaṃ tailaiḥ dṛḍhaṃ culikalavaṇaṃ gandhaṃ prabhavaistailatayoḥ piṣṭvā jamvīranīreṇa hinamapavaṃ pralepayet ityevaṃ jāraṇaṃ kāryatitaḥ sūtaṃ vimārayet" This is the instruction: soaked in jamvīra juice and oil, grind firmly with culikā salt and sulfur. Apply this paste with jamvīra water; thus the jāraṇa is completed, and the mercury should be killed. Grind with jamvīra juices for a day, along with dhūmasāraka soot/smoke-essence, suvacelam, and boil in goat's urine. The four parts of kaṇṭakārī Solanum xanthocarpum and other [herbs] should be ground for a day in human urine. Sajjikṣāra natron/alkaline salt, tittiṇīka tamarind, kāsīsa green vitriol, and śilājitu bitumen should be steeped in jamvīra juices for four yāmas six hours. The seed of nepāla croton, with the fiber removed, [should be ground] in the juices of radishes for a day. Saindhava rock salt, kaṇa long pepper, guñjā Abrus precatorius, and migu roots in their juices for a day. All these equal parts should be ground with jamvīra juices. One should throw the ball into the viḍayantra, which is like a submarine fire. Grind the mercury with this in a khalvaka mortar until it becomes golden, and digest or kill all desired metals. The killing is performed with this method. Taking the tuṃvī gourd with its root, grind it thoroughly in cow's urine. Grind the mercury with its juice for a day.
