...thrown in. By the fixed rule, heat it to half or a quarter [of the original volume] with a mild fire for a day. In the crucible, it becomes nectar. Mix cow ghee, sulfur, and the sattva essence. Prepare a pill, place it in the middle of kumārī-ratna aloe vera, and wrap it with a cloth.
Now, the rasamāraṇa-mūṣā crucible for the killing of mercury:
Enclose the copper in a sampuṭa sealed crucible/vessel and cook it with three light heatings. Then, in the metal crucible, it will certainly become ash in an instant. ...Dry the ripened fruit of the aśvattha sacred fig. Grind it with viḍa salts and coat the crucible. Fill it with the jāra-cūrṇa digestion powder derived from the cow. Enclose the mercury inside and turn it into ash. A list of herbs follows, including: vaketikā, bāmācī, kañcukī, kaṭutumbikā, kākajaṅghā, kākaratuṇḍī, kālikā, and kākamañjarī. Having coated the inside of the crucible with these pastes, throw in the mercury. Grind for one day with oils and juices, as if it were the mercury itself. Seal and close [the crucible]; grind again and again eight times. Having coated and closed the crucible, the metal will be killed. Grind the mercury with regulators and, with equal parts of sulfur and oil, cook it on a mild fire until it becomes firm. Then, in an iron sampuṭa sealed vessel, grind it with harītakī chebulic myrobalan water. Seal the crucible with iron paste. Place a shell-shaped [vessel] on top and throw in the nāga lead. Heat it until the lead is melted. Do not heat it again until it turns red. Thus, repeat the process on the metal for a yāma three-hour period.
