The Essence of Mercury

(29) The destruction of the faults of tin, (30) the victory over the "blackening" kalika,
(31) The various types of pastes, and (32) the work of utilizing poisons. (10)
(33) Work relating to gem-crucibles, (34) and the making of leaf and the like. (11)
(35) The pill known as the "Wish-fulfilling Cow," (36) the preservation of youth, and (37) the "Sky-roaming" khechari [pill]. (12)
(38) Many divine pills that cause one to become invisible,
(39) And many "Kraunca" yogas specific alchemical formulations and the beautiful work of birds. (13)
(40) I will also speak of the beautiful types of medicinal preparations,
(41) Many types of apparatus, and (42) the binding of crucibles, I shall tell. (14)
(43) I will also speak of the weapons in the work of the King of Mercury,
(44) And the sweating svedana of the King of Mercury, the supreme alchemy. (15)
(45) The killing of all metals, (46) and the transmission into the body,
(47) The consumption, performed according to the rules, for the mercury-user. (16)
(48) The behavior of the ruler, so that one may attain success.
I will speak of these sections of the scripture in order. (17)
By which seekers may easily know the means of success,
For the awakening of the ignorant, in the Rasasara-Samuccaya. (18)

The Fourth Chapter

Now, therefore, I will explain the purification of the King of Mercury,
By the mere knowing of which, the seekers become skilled in the work. (1)
The destruction of the faults of lead, the destruction of the faults of tin,
The victory over the "blackening," and the destruction of the faults of the earth. (2)
