The system of weights used in this book is as follows:
Four grains of barley make one cauntalī or rattī.
Six rattī make one māśā or dhānyaka.
Four māśā are called one śāṇa or ṭaṅka.
Two ṭaṅka are called one kola (eight māśā).
Two kola make one karṣa (tolā).
Two karṣa make half a pala, this is called śukti.
Two pala make one prasūti (8 tolā).
Two prasūti make one añjali, and the same is called kuḍava (16 tolā).
In this way, the definitions should be understood.
