And if old age hastens upon him, he is in a better state than one who is struck by consumption original: "السل" - phthisis or pulmonary consumption in its early stages and severe affliction. The treatment for one who is struck by such consumption, which consists merely of the humors that nourish the solid organs, is by one of these h—the best way to justify [the treatment of] these [patients] is for the regimen to increase their benefit, even if it is slight. It is rarely seen that the elders benefit from a moisturizing regimen for [illness] kinds for which there is no perfection in their management. And he indicates with blood that has passed from one struck by the third consumption which we mentioned h—I mean those who have "withering consumption" original: "سل الذبول" due to an instrument of the organs near to fever after withering consumption. It is the easiest of the consumptions by nature and the fastest; it is the fourth consumption, which occurs from the exhaustion of the small vessels and the humors which we encountered? h.

All [types] other than that of consumption are four kinds. The easiest of them is that in which he feels the humors that are from the cavities of the small vessels. It is the first of the consumptions that appears to the sight, and that is because it does not leave the humors that are between the parts of the organs dry. And the second after it is that in which the humors occur between the parts. And third is the one that prevents humors from the organs whose nature is defined by their soft substance, from the humors of the organs close in time to solidification, such as fat and moist flesh. And the fourth is that the humors of the primary organs, such as the heart, the stomach, and the like, dry up. So when the matter counts as difficult, what I described first—the consumption occurring in the organs close in time to solidification—is lethal h. And the treatment for this consumption, I mean that which occurs from what is in the cavity of the small vessels, is that the treatment for the coldness of the body is the most appropriate.
