they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
The grace of Christ. Let us ask the congregation. Three times: Lord have mercy. The power of the Gospel upon us.
O great and wonder-working God, who hast preserved the profession of Thy church in all prayers...
The day of the holy vestments. Then the holy service: They enter the church before the bema, and looking upward, [they sing] Psalm 101: "I will sing of thy mercy, O Lord." Another, Psalm 102: "Hear my prayer, O Lord, my God." Another, Psalm 132: "Remember, O Lord, David." The deacon prays: And again in peace. Let us pray to the merciful God, that He may receive these vessels, for the pleasure and glorification of His name. Amen. Dwelling Lord our God, save and have mercy. Nine times: Lord have mercy, according to the prayer.
O Most High God, who hast clothed Thy church with the light of Thy glory, and hast set for us garments of incorruptibility: receive from us these vestments, as once Thou didst for the Tabernacle of Testimony, and as for the children of Israel, who were spread out: Be sanctified and purified as Thou didst receive and purify, and as Thou didst please to accept the linens of Joseph for the garment of Thy divine Body. So also may this be worthy of the service of Thy holy church. So that the earth-born offerers of this may stand in return before Thee, here and in the hereafter, for the reaping of good things, the gifts of Thy mercy, the light-filled garments, and the crown that fadeth not away; and make us all worthy, to glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy? Spirit.

The grace of Christ, let us ask the Lord. Three times: Lord have mercy, and he says:
to us, to act according to the intellect given by Thee, O Lord. Now receive this material, and these vessels from our hands: and look with Thy divine eye as [it was] sanctified and purified, as the God-bearing Virgin Mary, the Mother of God; and as the wood of the cross was sanctified, in Thy God-bearing body and God-brewing blood; and as was sanctified, the light-receiving stone of the sepulcher, by Thy dwelling within it. And as Thou art always seated resting, O awesome Name, upon Thy awesome throne of the Cherubim, according to the prophet who says "awesomely upon the throne of Thy kingdom," which even the incorporeal ones spoke of with awe.

Awesome is Thy glory in its place; that is, wherever there is a dwelling of Thy divinity, let it be awesome. And now with divine awe, purify and brighten this material, according to so much mystery of awe, for the dwelling of Thy divine Body, and the vessel of Thy divine Blood, always radiating within it the sparks of light-ray, of Thy God-typed body and blood for the reconciliation of the world.
