likewise also this holy church You named a rock, and called this [dwelling] which was built in Your name. May Your infinite power fill it, and may the altar, the holiness of holinesses, be firmly established in it. Accept this, so that whoever approaches it with an unblemished sacrifice, may be transformed into the preciousness of the body and blood of Your Only-begotten. And grant to those who enter it and confess their sins, to be a forgiver of souls and health of bodies, through the intercession of the holy Mother of God who bore You without blemish, and all Your saints; for Your name is blessed and Your kingdom is glorified, now and always.
After this, they draw the curtain, and light the candle. First the bishop for the sanctuary, others for the exterior. And they say: "Enlighten now." Psalm 22, response: "I will enter before the altar." Change: "Judge me, O God, in the cause."
Reading from Proverbs
My child, if you receive the
words of my commandment,
and hide them within yourself,
your ear shall hear wisdom,
and you shall apply your heart
to understanding, and deliver
it to your child for instruction.
For if you call wisdom to yourself
and give your own self to understanding,
if you seek it like silver,
like treasures you examine it,
then you shall receive the fear
of the Lord, and find the knowledge
of God. For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from His face [comes] knowledge,
and understanding of the righteous.
He directs salvation, and a protector
He shall be of their paths,
to keep His way,
and the way of those who fear
Him, He shall strengthen. Then you shall
receive the fear of the Lord,
and righteousness, and justice,
and you shall direct all the paths of goodness.
For if wisdom comes into your mind,
and you shall deem the understanding of your soul good,
the thoughts of good shall
keep you, the holy thoughts
shall keep you.
Reading from the prophet Ezekiel
And the Spirit lifted me up
and carried me to the inner
court, and behold, the temple was full
of the glory of the Lord,
and I stood there. And behold,
the sound of speaking from there
that spoke to me, and a man
stood before me, and says
to me, "Son of man, have you seen
the place of My throne,
and the place of My feet, where
I will dwell, My name, in the midst
of the house of Israel forever? And
let them no longer defile My
holy name, the house of Israel, they
themselves, and their kings,
by their fornication,
and by the killing of the princes
that are in their midst. You [shall] show the door
of this, My house, in the midst of their doors,
and My doorposts near
their doorposts, and I shall place walls...

and they defiled My
holy name by their iniquities
that they were doing,
and I destroyed them in My anger,
and by killing; perhaps now they will
cast away their fornications."
