the slaughter of the princes.
And I shall dwell in their midst
forever. You said,
"Son of man, show to the
house, the temple, this,
so that they may desist from their
sins." The vision of this
and its form, and its proportions
and [they] shall receive
their afflictions, for
what they have done. And they shall depict
the house and its prepar
ation, its entrance and its
exit, its measure and all
its commands, and all
its laws and its judgments.
Show them, and
they shall keep all the judgment
s and my commands and
shall perform them. And the depiction
of the house upon the top of the mount
and all its boundaries around
about are holy of holi
nesses. This is the pattern
of the temple and this measure
of the altar.
An ornamental dropped capital 'Ց' features interlaced red and black ink patterns.
My soul shall rejoice
in the Lord, for He has clothed me with
the garment of salva
tion, and a robe of glad
ness. Like a bridegroom
He put a crown on me, and like a
bride He adorned me with orna
ments. Like the earth
that makes its flowers grow,
and like a garden
that makes its seeds sprout,
so shall the Lord make spring
up righteousness
and joy before
all nations. For the sake of Zion
I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not
rest, until her right
eousness shines forth like the light,
and her salva
tion burns like a lamp. And the Gen
tiles shall see your right
eousness and kings your glory.
your glory. And you shall be called by a name
which the Lord shall name.
And you shall be a crown
of beauty in the hand of the Lord,
and a royal diadem in the hand of your Lord.
And your land shall no more be called
forsaken;
it shall no more be called a wasteland. For to
you a name shall be called:
"My Delight." And your land [shall be] a
cultivated place of habita
tion, for the Lord has taken pleasure in you.
An ornamental dropped capital 'Ի' is styled with zoomorphic motifs characteristic of Armenian illumination.
Putting away
henceforth all mal
ice and all deceit,
and hypocrisy and
envy and all malice,
as newborn
infants, [you shall] crave
the sincere milk,
that by it
you may grow to salvation; if
you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming
to the living stone, which though
by men
rejected, yet by God
chosen and precious. And you as
living stones are built,
a spiritual temple
[for] a holy priesthood,
to offer spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ. For it also
stands in Scripture: "Behold,
I place in Zion a chosen stone,
a precious cornerstone,
whoever believes in him
shall not be ashamed." To you
who believe [He is] a precious stone;
but to the disobedient, the stone which the
builders rejected
became the cornerstone,
and a stone of stumbling
and a rock of offense,
at which stumble the
rebellious to the word to which they were appointed. But you are a
chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people:
so that you may dedicate your virtues to Him
who called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light—who were once
not a people, but now are the people of God—who had not
received mercy, but now mercy
you find.
Alleluia: of craft: behold this is the peculiar God of all, for all holy.
Gospel According to Matthew:
At that time Jesus an
swered and said: "I
thank You, Father,
Lord of heaven and earth, that You
have hidden these things from the wise
and the prudent and have revealed
them to babes. Yes, Fa
ther, for so it was pleasing
before You. Everything
was given to Me by My Fa
ther. And no one knows the
Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except
the Son wishes to reveal.
Come to Me all who are weary
and burdened and
I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you
and learn from Me, for
I am meek and humble in heart;
and you shall find rest
for your souls, for My
yoke is sweet and My burden
is light." And the deacon shall proclaim
for the directing and filling [the people] he says the prayers:
We pray to You and be
seech Your abundant
humanity, Lord
God of ours, that You may accept
our prayers and sup
plications, and of all the people, and send Your
Holy Spirit, sanctifying and
life-giving, upon this
altar and in [this] church, [to be]
holy
and awesome and glori
fied—the place dedicated to
Your name, awesome
always and daily to be glori
fied in it—all
holy Trinity, now
and always. Peace be with you all.
You who are awesome and glori
fied by all creatures,
[Your] daughter has humbled
herself to us; there stands before You
this people; and accept
our petitions in this temple
of Your holiness; and
make this [place] worthy of offer
ings and sacri
fices; and the accept
ance of the petitions of all who trust, so that in it we may
glorify always the all
holy Trinity, the Father
and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Sharakn hymn in the 3rd mode: "This day the choirs of angels." Again this canon is performed. Alleluia: 27th [Psalm]: "To see me." Change: "Hear, O merciful one, and save [us]."
Reading from Proverbs:
Listen to me for I speak
decent things; I fear
from my lips regarding the truth.
My throat shall meditate, and
false lips are an abomina
tion before me. All the words of my mouth
are righteousness and
there is no crookedness in it.
Everything is straight
to the wise, and
proper for those who find
knowledge. Accept
instruction and not silver;
and knowledge more
than chosen gold.
Choose knowledge
rather than pure gold—and
wisdom is better
than precious stones—and
everything that is
precious is not worth
it. Third Reading of the Sons
