Teacher. And you are all
brothers; and call no one father
on earth,
for one is your Father who
is in heaven. Do not be called
teachers, for your teacher
is Christ; and whoever is great among you
shall be your servant.
Whoever exalts
himself shall be humbled, and
whoever humbles
himself shall be exalted.
Woe to you, scribes and Phari
sees, hypocrites,
for you shut the kingdom
of heaven before men;
you do not enter, and
those who would enter you do not
allow to enter. Woe to
you, scribes and Phari
sees, hypocrites,
for you go across sea and
dry land to make
one proselyte, and when he becomes
one, you make him a son of Gehenna

twice as much as yourselves.
Woe to you, blind
guides, for you say, 'Whoever swears
by the temple, it is nothing;
but whoever swears by the gold
that is in the temple, he is bound.'
Fools and blind! What is
greater, the gold, or the temple
which sanctifies the gold?
And 'Whoever swears by the altar,
it is nothing;
but whoever swears by the offering
which is upon it, he is
bound.' Foolish and
blind! What is greater, the offering,
or the altar which sanctifies the offering?
Therefore, whoever swears by the altar
swears by it and by all that is
upon it; and whoever swears by the
temple, swears by it
and by Him who dwells in it; and whoever
swears by heaven,
swears by the throne of God,
and by Him who sits
upon it."

Lord of things God
given, we beseech You,
who the rejected and
the distanced race of mankind
didst gather and didst make into a church,
with the pattern
of the tabernacle; and now, Lord,
through Your Son Jesus Christ,
there was built a place of
prayer, and a temple
to Your name, O Holy One,
which You commanded to be
and to build, through apostolic
preaching and true
faith of the Holy
Trinity to establish this. And now we
beseech You, Lord, with the
seal of this holy church,
that You may receive this house
named a temple to Your
holy name; and increase and sanctify
the holy altar upon which [are]
holinesses of offer

ings which go out from it;
[may they] be Your true
body and blood, through
the hand of the Holy
Spirit, by which
we shall be sanctified and forgiven
and cleansed from the
sins of ours and of the people,
and by giving thanks. And the supplicant

We beseech You, benefi
cent and most merciful,
with all our hearts;
incline [Your ear] to our prayers
and accept the petitions of
us who pray to
You; and grant the grace
of Your Holy Spirit
to the altar and to the temple which in Your
name was established;
and increase and sanctify
the stones and the wood which are upon it. So that
everyone who greets it
or bows down to it,
not as to a despicable stone and wood,
but to the temple of Your
holy name and [as] the habitation
