A large, elaborate Ethiopic headpiece (haräg) at the top of the page. It consists of a rectangular panel containing complex interlocking knotwork in black and red ink. Above the panel is a large, symmetrical foliate or floral ornament, similar to stylized acanthus leaves, rendered with black outlines and light brown shading. Decorative vertical borders with leaf-like patterns extend down both sides of the upper text block.
Rejoice for all, one.
Interpretation of the Righteous and the Sinners.
And the Psalm of David.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
And does not stand in the path of sinners.
And does not sit in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And his law he reads day and night.
And he shall be like a tree that is
planted by the flowing water.
That yields its fruit in its season.
And its leaf shall not wither.
And all that he does shall succeed.
Not so are the sinners, not so.
But like dust which the wind blows from the face of the [earth].
And for this reason, the wicked shall not rise in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the counsel of the righteous.
